Knit in unspun yarn held with a strand of mohair, this raglan is lightweight, warm, and perfect for the late winter chill. It knits up quickly and comes with several modification options so you can really make it your own! Play around with different yarn combos: by matching the unspun and mohair strands you can create a beautiful solid (like my brown-grey sample) or use an undyed unspun paired with a variegated mohair for a more interesting fabric (like my yellow-brown sample).
Don't like unspun yarn? No worries! This yarn works great in blown yarns and woolen spun yarns too.
About the PatternSkill Level: IntermediateYarnSample 1 (Yarn A and B are held together):
- Yarn A: Woollentwine Thrive (100% unspun wool; 100g per plate). 2.5 plates in “Rye”.
- Yarn B: Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair (70% mohair, 30% silk; lace weight; 246yds/25g). 4.5 skeins in “Bark”.
- Yarn A: Zeilinger Wool Company pencil roving (100% unspun wool; 250g per plate). 1.5 plates in undyed.
- Yarn B: Woolen Women Fibers Matsumoto (64% mohair, 36% silk; lace weight; 459yds/50g). 2 skeins in “Beer Garden”.
Meterage: 903 (1007, 1114, 1223, 1317), 1430, (1546, 1643, 1763, 1885) m of each
Note: Unspun yarns often do not have exact yardages listed because the fragility makes it difficult to measure precisely. It also breaks easily and often requires wet-splicing, which requires more yardage, so I recommend buying slightly more if you have never worked with unspun yarns before.
