Yarn

• Any DK weight yarn or fingering weight yarn held double.
• Samples: Juliette Pécaut Designs Merino Fingering (100% merino wool; fingering weight; 437yds / 100g). Two colors held double. 10g or 44yds (40m) of each color used

Needles

• US 6 (4mm) 16” (40cm) circular needles, or size to obtain gauge
• An extra 16” (40cm) circular needle of the same size or smaller, for finishing

Notions

• Yarn needle
• Stitch marker (1)
• Hair elastic
• For decorative seam version: An extra needle of the same size as the main needle, straight or circular
• For seamless version: scrap yarn for provisional CO
• For seamless version: crochet hook for provisional CO

Gauge

• 22 sts and 28 rounds = 4” (10cm) in Stockinette stitch in the round

Finished Measurements

• 1.5” (3.75cm) wide
• 16” (40cm) circumference “unscrunched”. The finished scrunchie circumference will depend on the size of the hair elastic.

Pattern Notes

This scrunchie is knit in the round to create a seamless piece of fabric that is then seamed together around the hair elastic. One version uses grafting for a “seamless” finish, the other uses a three-needle bind off for a decorative seam.
